By Srila Krishna Dvaipayana Vedavyasa. Told by Purnaprjna Dasa. One of the major eighteen Puranas, the Kurma Purana originally consists of 17,000 verses. Here we have a glimpse in story format of the wealth contained therein. Verses explaining how the real Sita devi was taken away by Agnideva before the king of the Raksasas, Ravana, could steal her away from Lord Ramachandra. Narrations such as this were recited by brahmanas to be heard by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, which were very pleasing to Him. Srila A.C. Bhaktivedata Swami Prabhupada writes that the Puranas are especially meant for Vaisnavas and are also Vedic literature.
