Canto by canto, the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam draws us onward, encouraging,
purifying, and guiding us to stop clutching at straws of matter in our
search for happiness and security. Instead, the Bhāgavatam implores us
to grasp Lord Hari's lotus feet tightly by hearing about Him and
glorifying Him. The Backward Glance provides a summary study of the
Eleventh and Twelveth Cantos. The Backward Glance aims to provide a
guiding thread for its readers. By grasping this thread, readers will
more easily traverse and absorb the instructive and multifaceted
philosophical guidance offered in these final cantos of
Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam.
Hardbound, 696 pages.
Initiated by Śrīla Prabhupāda in 1968, in 1970 Bhūrijana Dāsa and his
wife Jagattārini Dāsī opened ISKCON's first Hong Kong center. Throughout
the 1970s they met Śrīla Prabhupāda in Japan, Hong Kong, the
Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and Hawaii. At their last
meeting in 1976, Śrīla Prabhupāda asked Bhūrijana to focus on teaching.
He taught for seven years in the US, then founded the Vrindavana
Institute for Higher Education, where he taught writing, teaching, and
Śrīla Prabhupāda's books. He also organized ISKCON's first śāstra degree
courses.
